Jay Jones
March 5, 1952 - June 5, 2012 |
Jay Jones, 60, of Silsbee, was born on March 5, 1952, to Ester Aaron Jones and Jewel Ralph Jones. Born and raised in Beaumont, he was a 1970 graduate of South Park High School. Jay settled into a career in auto sales and is said to have been able to "sell a ketchup Popsicle to a lady in white gloves." He was an avid outdoorsman fishing being his greatest passion. A few of his other great loves in life were raising field-trial beagles, muddin' in his signature blue Bronco, racing boats on the Neches River, and spending time with his friends and family. With the birth of his four children, Jay became actively involved in Lumberton sports as both a supportive, encouraging parent and a coach. His love for sports grew immensely over the years, as his television was always tuned in to the best games. Jay’s one-of-a-kind personality will remain unforgettable to all that knew him. With his passing, Jay leaves behind many memories that will forever be cherished by his loving friends and family. Survivors include his sons, Blake Jones of Silsbee; Seth Jones and his wife, Ashleigh, of Lumberton; and Logan Jones of Beaumont; daughter, Jenna Jones of Tacoma, Washington; sister, Ruby Jewell Hale and her husband, Don, of Port Neches; and grandchildren, Haden Gilley, Rainey Blake Jones, Laikynn Jones, and Acelynn Jones. A gathering of Mr. Jones’ family and friends will begin at 4:30 p.m., with his memorial service at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. A private family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. |
