Ernestine "Lil Mommie" Clarvoe
November 27, 1934 - June 1, 2012

Ernestine Clarvoe dawned the Earth with her presence on November 27, 1934, to Theodore William Hutchinson and Essie Will McCurdy in Bon Air, Alabama.  She was the only child born to this union. Ernestine closed her eyes and said her final goodbyes on Friday, June 1, 2012, in Beaumont, Texas.

Ernestine has carried the name “Lil Mommie” for over forty years by family and friends, because she thought she was too young to be called “Grandma.” Now she is being called, “My Child” by God, because you are never too young or old in His eyes. Lil Mommie was full of life, spunk; her unique essence & her loving spirit captivated those around her.  And she developed countless long lasting friendships with many. She believed in living life to the fullest, cherishing every moment. You could hear her singing songs of praise while piddling around the living room.  She could light up a room with her smile, charm, honesty and quick wit. Ernestine is a firm believer of family togetherness; and the love she shared for her children, grandchildren, family and friends was everlasting.

Ernestine accepted Christ at an early age. She received her Christian values, training and foundation through Unity Christian Centers with continued Christian Psychology beliefs with the Foundation of Human Understanding under the direction of Roy Masters.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Wilson James III and his wife, Michelle, of Ontario, California; Christopher Corley and his wife, Dondra, of Memphis, Tennessee; Cheryl James; and Crystal Bevil and her husband, Marcus, all of Beaumont; and a special cousin, Brenda Barnes and her husband, George, of Lancaster, California. Lil Mommie has twenty grandkids; twenty-three great-grandkids; and a host of cousins and friends. Special relatives too important not to mention include the James family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Lawrence Louis Clarvoe; and son, Theodore William James.

A gathering of Mrs. Clarvoe’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2012, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont.
