Julian Flanakin, 83, of Silsbee died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at his residence in Silsbee. He was born on April 17, 1929, to Mary Harris Flanakin and Samuel Flanakin, in Julian was a United States Army veteran and retired as a logging contractor. Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Bonnie Flanakin; children, Debbie Brown and Robert “Rusty” Flanakin and his wife, Ann all of Silsbee; grandchildren, Adam Brown of Nacogdoches, Elizabeth Briggs and her husband, Tim of Tomball, Amanda Simon and her husband, Jason of Silsbee, and Matt Flanakin and his wife, Dana of Lumberton; great grandchildren, Abigail and Juliann Simon, Taylor and Madalynn Briggs, and Grace, Saida, and Charlee Flanakin; sisters and brothers, Sally Sharp and Sammy Reeves of Silsbee, Mary Jean Neely of Beaumont, Mulqueen Lindsey and her husband, Carl and Virginia Baker all of Silsbee, Betty Flanakin of Friendswood, PeeWee Flanakin and his wife, Glenda of Silsbee, and Austene Kilpatrick of Pearland. Julian is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Flanakin; and sisters, Eunice Bledsoe, Vernice Woods, Dolly Gammill, Frenchie Flanakin, Inez Sharp, Essie Warden, and Bobbie Flanakin.
