Jose Francisco Sanchez, 71, of Winnie, died May 30, 2012, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. A native of Benavides, he was born on December25, 1940, to Clara Flores Sanchez and Francisco Sanchez. A longtime resident of Gilchrist, Jose had resided in the Winnie area since 2008 and retired from Galveston Ship Building as a welder.

His survivors include his loving wife of forty-five years, Nancy Sanchez, of Winnie; son, Joe-Bryan Sanchez of Amarillo; daughters, Nanci Carr and her husband, John of New Brighton, Pennsylvania; Kelli DeMoss and her husband, Dennis of Winnie; Angel McCarley and her husband, Jason of Columbia Falls, Montana; and Wendi Clark and her husband, Chris of Port Bolivar; grandchildren, Mindy Mack, Misty Brown, Mark Hodge, Micah Hodge, Noah DeMoss, Jonah DeMoss, Kade McCarley, Olivia McCarley, Sophie Jo Clark, Ben Sanchez, and Brooklin Sanchez; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Amando Sanchez of Sinton, Amdo Sanchez of Austin, and Rey Sanchez of Odom; sister, Lupe Serrapa of Corpus Christi; and numerous family and friends.

Mr. Sanchez’s funeral service will be 6:00 p.m., Friday , June 1, 2012, with a gathering of family and friends to follow until 9:00 p.m. at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium. Interment will be in High Island Cemetery at a later date.
