Dora Villarreal Torseth

Dora Villarreal Torseth, (Dora in the Biblical sense means “A Gift of God”) 63, of Beaumont, died peacefully at home Monday, May 14, 2012, surrounded by family members. She was born January 16, 1949, in Beaumont. Dora attended St. Anthony Catholic School and later graduated from Monsignor Kelly High School in Beaumont. Later, she graduated from Lamar University and then went on to graduate from GW Law-George Washington University in Washington, DC with a Juris Doctorate Degree. Dora was so very proud of the fact that in 1986, she made an oral argument and won the appeal before the 9th Court of Appeals on a criminal case. Survivors include her daughters, Andrea Lopez Flores of Durham, North Carolina and Bianca Lopez Torseth of Aubrey; son, John Lopez Torseth of Aubrey; mother, Carmen Mooney and stepfather, Allen Mooney, both of Hemphill; grandson, David Lopez Gardner; aunts, Mary Nell Lopez and Juanita Guerrero, both of Beaumont; and numerous other family members and friends throughout the Texas area, Mexico and Norway. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ingar A. Torseth; maternal grandparents, Isabel and John Lopez; and uncle, Lewis Guerrero. A Rosary for Mrs. Torseth will be recited at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2012, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 767 Avenue A, Beaumont, with her committal to follow at Broussard’s Crematorium. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Christopher Garrett and Natalie Silva at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston.
