Dwight "Bubba" Gasaway
May 16, 1943 - May 12, 2012

Dwight “Bubba” Gasaway was born May 16, 1943, in Beaumont, to Margie Moses Gasaway and S.D. Gasaway.

Growing up as a young man Dwight was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and had a passion for scuba diving. He attended Charlton Poullard High School and graduated in 1961. After graduation, Dwight served both Northern and Southern Louisiana with Brother and Sister Jackson and Brother and Sister Boggus as a regular pioneer.

Upon pioneering in Melville, Louisiana in 1965, he met the lovely Miss Bunnie Sterling. They later married on October 26, 1967, and were married for forty-four years. To their union three children were born, Bruce, Tammy, and Tonja.

Dwight retired from B.F. Goodrich as a maintenance technician and later went into business for himself as a general contractor. For over thirty years, Dwight worked for himself and no job was too big or too small. He never met a stranger. After finally retiring, Dwight enjoyed most of his time in field service, traveling, and with his grandkids. His grandkids were the apples of his eye and he had a special name for all of them. Dwight’s greatest joy was spending time with his family.

On May 12, 2012, Dwight peacefully passed away surrounded by those who loved him the most. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Margie Thomas and Clausy (Buck) Thomas and S.D. Gasaway.

Those who will greatly miss him are his dedicated wife, Bunnie Gasaway; son, Bruce Gasaway of New Iberia, Louisiana; loving daughters, Tammy Crochett and Paul and Tonja Gasaway and Michael, all of Beaumont; grandchildren, Raven, Bridget, Aaliyah, Benjamin, Dayja, and Christian “Big Daddy”; great-grandchildren, Laci and Ava; one brother, Sonny Gasaway; sisters, Beverly (Bo-Ann) Bowman and Melvin and Carolyn Thibodeaux and James; two aunts, Willie Mae Johnson and James and Marie Moses; and a host of other beloved family members. Dwight will also be greatly missed by his three dogs, Kingston, Precious and Sklar.
