Bert Bosse, 98, of Hamshire, Texas, and formerly of Springfield, Illinois, died on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at The Arboretum of Winnie. He was born on July 12, 1913, in Chicago, Illinois, to John Bosse and Martha Babendererde Bosse.

Bert was an active member of Southern View Chapel in Springfield, Illinois, for many years and served the Lord through his teachings and his love for others. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, never missing a game by either being at the ballpark, listening to the radio or watching a game on TV. Bert played on a men’s softball team until the age of 80, but continued to coach and cheer his team on long after that.  He loved life and everyone loved him, but most of all, Bert loved his Lord and Savior with whom he now lives in eternity with.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda DuBose and her husband, Stephen of Hamshire; grandchildren, Mark Bosse, Kyle Bosse, Justin DuBose and Kindal Peltier; great-grandchildren, Riley DuBose, Reagan DuBose, Morgan Peltier and Pratt Peltier; and sister, Louise Wessman of Walla Walla, Washington.

He is preceded in death by his son, David Bosse; and sisters, Gertrude Hougdahl and Margaret Bosse.

Bert’s family would like to thank The Arboretum, Summer Place Nursing Homes and the Winnie Community Hospital with special thanks to Danny Thompson for the expert care and love he was always giving.

Cremation arrangements are being handled under the direction of Broussard’s Crematorium.
