J. B. Overstreet, 87, of Alvin, died on Monday, April 30, 2012 at his residence. J.B. was born in Kountze on October 9, 1924 to Henry Daniel and Henrietta (Knight) Overstreet. A resident of Alvin for the last six years and had lived in Texas City for more than fifty years. J.B. was a retired maintenance worker for the City of Deer Park and he had also served his country in the United States Army during World War II

J.B. is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Grace Overstreet of Alvin; his children, James Overstreet of Sante Fe, Kenneth Overstreet of Alvin, Pamela Mapes and Carolyn Borders both of Sante Fe and Lesa Pribilske of Texas City; his sisters, Wilma Duff of Livingston and Lora Mae Rice of Shepherd; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Carl Wesley Overstreet.

His graveside service will be 12:00 noon, May 2, 2012 at Holland Cemetery in Kountze, under the direction of Broussard’s in Kountze.
