Alvin Joseph LeBlanc, Jr. 
July 9, 1926 - April 26, 2012

Alvin Joseph LeBlanc, Jr., 85, of Beaumont, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont.

 

He was born July 9, 1926, in Abbeville, Louisiana, to Rose Moore LeBlanc and Alvin Joseph LeBlanc, and moved to Beaumont at an early age. Alvin was a United States Navy veteran having served as a First Class Seaman from 1943-1945 on the USS Lanier. Their missions included supporting the efforts on Iwo-Jima and Nagasaki, Japan, the site of the second Atomic Bomb that ended World War II. He was a Beaumont Fire Fighter at a young age of 17 and retired in 1979 after thirty-six years of service. Throughout his years as a fire fighter, Alvin also worked for Bethlehem Ship Yard in Beaumont for nineteen years; Burns Security for five years; and Bethlehem Dry Dock in Pleasure Island for seven years. At the age of 71, Alvin retired from all of his years of hard work.

 

He is survived by his, wife of fifty-six years, JoAnn Cummings LeBlanc; sons, Gregory LeBlanc of Houston, and Dennis LeBlanc and his wife, Erin of Gonzales, Louisiana; daughters, Judith Lené and her husband, Terry of Beaumont, and Diana Ferguson and her husband, Gregg of China; grandchildren, Sarah Lené, Derek and Logan Ferguson, and Chelsey LeBlanc; step-grandchildren, Lytonya Lené Kelly, Lance Lené and Tyler Liles; step-great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Julia, Joey and Kabriel.

 

He is preceded in death by parents; brother, Maxie LeBlanc; and sister, Carmen Morris.

 

A Rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2012, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 245 West Highway 90, China, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

 

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of the caregivers for their compassion and care of Alvin at Harbor Hospice and Baptist Hospital.
