Josephine Wise Carter, 92, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth. A resident of Sabine Oaks, she was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 15, 1920, to Famie Hamby Roberts and John Roberts. Josephine was a member of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution and WICS (Women in Construction). She was also a volunteer at Baptist Hospital for many years.

Survivors include her children, Bob Wise and his wife, Cathy of The Woodlands, Eddie Wise and his wife, Paula of Fannett, and Randy Carter and his wife, Marla of Warren; grandchildren, Dana Smith of Panama City, Florida, Lee Wise and his wife, Jessica of Silsbee, Tammy Booker and her husband, Ted of Beaumont, Charlie Carter and his wife Lacy of Fannett, Billy Carter of Beaumont and Tonya Bullard of Ozona, Texas; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Wise and N.H. Carter.

A gathering of her family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2012, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s.
