Charles David Kelly passed away Friday, April 20, 2012, at his home in Beaumont.  He was born August 3, 1938 in Beaumont to Charles William and Ann Barnett Kelly.

After graduating high school in 1957, Charles enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  He was honorably discharged in 1959, and joined the Beaumont Police Department where he earned the rank of Detective.  In 1969, Charles graduated from the FBI Academy.  He worked as an Undercover Narcotics Officer for the Texas Department of Public Safety from 1969-1973.  After leaving law enforcement, Charles worked in automotive sales which led to a second career in trucking and shipping.

Charles is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children,Colleen Kelly McKeever and her husband, Duncan of Sugar Land, Griffin Stuart Kelly and his wife, Leanne of San Antonio, and Charles David Kelly, Jr. and his wife, Angela of Pearland; grandchildren, William Joseph McKeever, Patrick Kelly McKeever, Courtney Meghan McKeever, and Catherine Marie McKeever all of Sugar Land, and Griffin Stuart Kelly, Jr., Mary Stuart Kelly, and Garrison O’Neal Kelly all of San Antonio.

His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine, Beaumont.  A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, April 22, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
