Robert “Rob” Louis Bittle, Jr., 57, of Nederland, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Gulf Healthcare Center in Port Arthur. Born November 19, 1954 in El Paso, Texas, he was the son of Velma Charlene Johnson and Robert Louis Bittle, Sr. A 1972 graduate from South Park High School in Beaumont, Rob studied pre-med at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado from 1972-1974. In 1977, he graduated from Lamar University with a B. S. Degree and then attended Lamar for post graduate studies. In 1990, he completed the required educational courses for certification at the University of Houston. For over fifteen years, Rob served as an educator in the Houston Independent School District and after his retirement was a local business owner. He was a member of the praise team and sing group at Methodist Temple. Rob was a son, brother, father, uncle and grandfather and a friend to all he came in contact with. Survivors include his mother, Velma Charlene Johnson; brother, Mitchel Bittle and his spouse, Dianne Bradbury of Houston; sister, Charlotte Chatelain and her husband, Steve of Nederland; sons, Parker Bittle and family, Spencer Bittle and family, and Hunter Bittle and family; and several nieces and nephews. His memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at his church home United Methodist Temple, 4101 Highway 73, Port Arthur, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at the church.
