Dorothy Faye Eckert, 83, of Beaumont, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at her residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, she was born June 22, 1928, to Frances Hufham Henderson and Johnny B. B. Henderson.  Dorothy graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown with a BA in art and obtained her Masters at Southwestern University.  She worked as a teacher in both public and private schools and also tutored special needs students in handwriting. A lifetime member of First Christian Church of Beaumont, she was always helping out in her church and taught Sunday school for many years.   She married James Eckert April 15, 1975. Dorothy also loved to play bridge, which she did as long as she was physically able.

She is survived by her husband, James Eckert; children, Winchell B. Lind, Diane Lind Campbell and her husband, Charles, and Geralyn Lind and her significant other, Ronnie Fournet; step-children, Jerrie Lynn Eckert and her husband, Robert and James Ross Eckert; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Michael James Eckert and Gibson Rhys Tumey; and two great-grandchildren on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Faye and B.B. Henderson; step-son, Eddie Joe Eckert; grandson, Marcus Brennen; and sister, Anne Raykovich.

Her memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012, at First Christian Church, 5290 North Caldwood Drive, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
