Walter W. Walker, 78, of Hamshire, died April 14, 2012, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont, Texas. A native of Mobile, Alabama, Walter was born on July 22, 1933, to Walter O. and Mary M. Eldridge Walker. He was the oldest of eleven children and served as a minister of the Gospel.

Walter is survived by daughters, Susan M. Fisher and Glenda D. Bowie both of Memphis, Tennessee; sons, John T. Walker of Niceville, Florida, David L. Walker of Memphis, Tennessee and Stephen A. Walker of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Shelli Fisher of Williamsburg, Virginia, Jesse Bowie of Memphis, Tennessee, and Brian Fisher of Jacksonville, North Carolina; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lamey of Bayou La Batre, Alabama, Dorothy Lemme of Universal City, Texas, and Sara Ann Duncan of Franklin, Tennessee; brothers, Ronnie Walker of Theodore, Alabama, Oliver Walker of Biloxi, Mississippi and Lewis Walker of Foul River, Alabama; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Walter W. Walker, Jr.; brothers, Gerald Walker, George Walker, and Carl Walker; sister, Patricia Walker.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie, Texas with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Broussard’s.
