Donald Earl Boyd

Donald Earl Boyd, 77, of Lumberton, died Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. A lifelong resident of the area, he was born November 16, 1934, to Etta Pearl Moser Boyd and Wallace Earl Boyd. A 1953 graduate of South Park High School, he later graduated from Lamar Tech. Donald retired from Mobil Oil as a maintenance foreman and was a United States Navy veteran. He was a member of Infant Jesus Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus in Lumberton, where he previously served as Grand Knight. He was also a past member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Stackhouse Boyd of Lumberton; children, Michael Wayne Boyd, Sr. and his wife, Donna Joy of Nederland, Cheryl Stackhouse Monson and her husband, Dr. Mark Monson of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Larry Stackhouse II and his wife, Melody of Stuttgart, Arkansas, Donna Sue Boyd Byrd, Sheila Stackhouse McFarland and her husband, Danny of Bevil Oaks, William A. Stackhouse and his wife, Suzann of Port Neches, Stephanie Stackhouse Harvey and her husband, Jay of Goliad; grandchildren, Geoff, Aaron, and Mike, Jr. Boyd, Amanda and Brandi Barlow, Travis and Wrachel Byrd, Carrie Neese, K’Leigh and Zach Stackhouse, Sarah Leech, Ryan and Caitlin McFarland, Morgan and Wil Stackhouse, Megan and Wade Sigur, Brian, Stephanie Renee, and Jason Harvey; great-grandchildren, Marleigh and Luke Boyd, Camden Clark, Eisley Stansbury, Jaycie Blankenbaker, Trig Byrd, Landon Leech, and Audrey Harvey; sister, Carolyn Nicol and her husband, Charles of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Margaret Sue Boyd; grandson, Donald Paul Byrd; and son-in-law, Wray Byrd. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m., followed by a gathering of his family and friends, Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Broussard’s, Memorial contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus Council 7058, The family would like to thank everyone for all their thoughts and prayers.
