G. Clayton Weeks

G. Clayton Weeks, 87, of Beaumont died Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. He was born January 9, 1924, in Camden, Texas to Nora Fortenberry Weeks and George W. Weeks. He had been a Beaumont resident since 1942 and was a United States Naval veteran having served during World War II. He retired as an executive with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after forty-two years of service. Mr. Weeks’ many civic and religious activities included fifty-six years of loyal service to North End Baptist Church, Board of Trustees and other committees of Baptist Hospital, President of Sertoma and Pioneers Clubs, and Chairman of Board of Southeast Texas American Diabetes Association, founded the Beaumont Museum of Telephone History, and served many other local organizations. Survivors include his daughters, Gwen Weeks, Lynn Weeks, and Gay Delaney; sons, Ken Weeks and his wife Cindy and Curtis Weeks and his wife Terri; grandchildren Cassandra Trevino and her husband Frank, Kristin Gilbertson and her husband Murray, Morgan Delaney, Christopher Delaney, Clayton Weeks, Bryan Weeks, Taylor Weeks, and Hayley Weeks; great grandchildren Rebecca Trevino, Brianna Werts and Dylan Constable; special friend Virginia Flowers; and sisters Estaline Nixon and Nelda Poole. He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-seven years, Trudie. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2011, at North End Baptist Church, 5115 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His graveside service will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Holly Grove Cemetery in Holly Grove, Texas. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Broussard’s.
