Arthur Lewis Green, 83, of Nederland, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on February 16, 1928 to Oscar Kerstine Green and Tommye Mott Green in Bentonville, Arkansas. Arthur was the last child after eight sisters. Arthur enjoyed reading, watching sports, running marathons, playing tennis and cards, traveling abroad and visiting the National Parks in the U.S.A. Mr. Green was a World War II Army veteran and was awarded metals for expert Rifle (190 of 200 shots), expert carbine, expert pistol and expert Thompson submachine gun. He was a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French and a Master’s degree from He is survived by his wife, Janice Green of Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and 6 sisters, Sarah Polly McMordie, Eunice Ensign, Carrie Bess Clark, Frances Loraine Potts, Hazel Lucille Woehler and Grace Truman Fenwick. His funeral service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland. A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 8:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service, at Broussard’s.
