Arthur Amos Guidry, Jr, 61, of Mont Belvieu, died peacefully in the arms of his loving wife of thirty-one years at his home in Mont Belvieu on Tuesday, October 11, 2011.  Amos was the son of Arthur Guidry Sr. and Frankie Mac Guidry. He born at St. Therese Hospital on November 1, 1949, and grew up in Beaumont. Amos also lived in Bagdad, Iraq and attended American Embassy School for three years while his dad was working there. Amos attended Assumption grade school and Amos graduated from Monsignor Kelly High School in 1967.

He also lived in Iraq with his family from 1958 - 60 (age 9 - 11) and loved to tell stories about his time there. During that time there he crossed the Atlantic Ocean four times and visited London, Paris Rome, Turkey, Egypt, Amsterdam, Athens - Jerusalem, and many other wonderful lands. Amos attended Lamar College before moving to Houston. While at Lamar, he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Amos worked in maintenance management for Crown Central Petroleum in Pasadena, Texas and for Amerada Hess in St. Croix, USVI. 

Amos is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Laurie Guidry, daughter Kellie and husband, Owen Morse of Little Rock, Arkansas; son, Sgt A. Amos Guidry III and wife, Lindsey of Oceanside, California; son, Samuel Guidry of Mont Belvieu; grandchildren, Daniel, Jackson, Riley and Taylor; sister, Zelma Reid and her husband, Bill Reid; brother, Ronnie Guidry; brothers-in-law, David Snell and his wife, Cheryl of Baytown, Mark Snell and his wife, Penny of New Braunfels, Nick Snell and his wife, Jo of Mont Belvieu; nephews and nieces, Andrew Milgram, Katherine Milgram, Shasta Mitchell, Chad Daniels, Matthew Daniels, Rachel Guidry, and Austin Snell.

Amos loved the outdoors and everything associated with it from sports, to hunting and fishing and being around kids. 

From the time he was a young boy, Amos loved everything about baseball. He played for the South Park Lions Little League, Minor League, Major and Pony Leagues and then played on All Star Teams. He also played baseball, basketball, football and track at Kelly.

Amos was a loving father that gave freely of his time and talents especially when children were involved. He coached his sons in baseball and football and never missed any of their ball games.  Amos had a gift of patience with all children that allowed him to have a great influence on many young lives. 

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2011, at Broussard’s.
