Richard Stewart 
August 2, 1948 - September 19, 2011

Richard Stewart, 63, of Richardson, died Monday, September 19, 2011, at Methodist Richardson Medical Center.

 

He was born August 2, 1948, in Galveston, to Margaret Mraz Stewart and Richard Lee Stewart. Mr. Stewart resided in the Beaumont area from 1972 until 2002, and then moved to Angleton, Texas until 2009 before residing in Richardson.  He was a writer/reporter for the Beaumont Enterprise; East Texas Bureau Chief for the Houston Chronicle, and a reporter for the Brazoria County Bureau.

 

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Carter Stewart of Richardson; children, Cody Stewart and his wife, Sarah of Beaumont, John Michael Carter and his wife, Fabiana of San Antonio, and Mary Elizabeth Storm and her husband, Brandon of Grand Forks, North Dakota; and his grandchildren, Kaden Paul Stewart, Brandt Alexander Stewart, and Cooper James Stewart all of Beaumont, Abigail Grace Storm, Blake Allen Storm, and Christopher Allen Storm all of Grand Forks, North Dakota.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Judith Ann Newman Stewart.

 

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with a graveside service to follow at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Broussard’s.
