Mary Ellen Lamb, 72, of Lumberton, died Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

She was born March 24, 1939, in Graysville, Indiana, to Dorothy Ellen Ruth Burton and Carl Vincent McMillan and had been a resident of Lumberton for many years.  Ms. Lamb taught at Queens Intermediate School and later at South Houston High School both in Pasadena.  She enjoyed volunteering at Some Other Place and Henry’s Place.  Ms. Lamb also tutored through Experience Corps.

Survivors include her mother, Dorothy McMillan of Franklin, Indiana; daughters, Julie Hewett and her husband, Rick of Temple and Debbie Sims and her husband, Scott of Lumberton; grandchildren, Zachary Sims, Maddie Sims, Nathaniel Hewett, Alexis Hewett, Hannah Hewett, and Tristan Hewett; sister, Janet Hoff of Franklin, Indiana; nephew, Todd Hoff and his wife, Naomi, and their children, Anika Hoff and Elizabeth Hoff all of Canada; and Richard Lamb of Oceanside, California.

She is preceded in death by her father, Carl Vincent McMillan; and her brother-in-law, Harry Hoff.

Her memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
