Josephine Marie DeBartolo Johnson, 86, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011.

She was born May 20, 1925, in Beaumont, to Carmela Rumore DeBartolo and Tony DeBartolo and had been a longtime resident of Beaumont.  She was an office manager with B. Palmer Sales in Dallas. 

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Ladies of Jude and Italian American Society of Beaumont; and volunteered at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth Gift Shop.  She loved gardening and traveling.

Survivors include her son, John Johnson and his wife, Nancy of Dallas; grandson, Patrick Johnson of Dallas; sister, Lucy DeBartolo Blackstock of Beaumont; nieces Laura Ann Puckett Sherrod and Jackie Diane DeBartolo Marsh and her husband Bill; nephew, Glen Ray DeBartolo and his wife, Mary; and many cousins and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.L. “Pete” Johnson; brother, Jack DeBartolo; and sister, Jeanette DeBartolo Kunz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 4118 Samuell Boulevard, Dallas under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2011, at Broussard’s.
