Rayford Dale Ivy, 83, of Nederland, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the Oak Grove Nursing Facility, in Groves.  Born January 20, 1928, in Ora Community, Texas to Ethel Rowin and Robert Davis Ivy, he was a resident of the Mid-County area since 1955. 

Rayford was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time at home and visiting with friends.  He will be remembered as someone who was a hard worker, kind person, and loved to laugh and tell jokes.

Rayford is survived by his wife, Joan Ivy of Nederland; daughters, Darla Menchaca and her husband, Richard, of Nederland and Madeline Bulliet of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Jeff Ivy of Nederland; grandchildren, Josh Ivy, Ashlynn Ivy, Tanner Ivy, Sara Ivy, Hannah Ivy, Jack Kane, Grace Bulliet, Ryan Menchaca, Madeline Jeans Rowe; great grandchildren, Kinsey Bass and Rylee Menchaca; sisters, Mozell Cotton of Lawton, Oklahoma and Nellie Lakey of Keithville, Louisiana; and brother, Glenn Ivy of Coldspring, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rob and Ethel Ivy; eight sisters; and daughter, Amanda Ivy.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2011, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.  A gathering of his family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Broussard’s.
