Joe H. Chandler 
June 11, 1938 - September 2, 2011

Joe H. Chandler, 73, of Nederland, died Friday, September 2, 2011, at Christus Hospital St. Mary, in Port Arthur.  Born June 11, 1938, in West Columbia, Texas to Virginia Fisher and Jess Chandler, he was a lifelong resident of the Mid-County area.  Joe retired from Colonial Pipeline after forty-one years of service.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and will be remembered for his expertise when cooking on the pit. Joe was a United States Army Veteran.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Linda Chandler of Nederland; daughters, Carrie DeWitt and her husband, Larry of Vidor and Johnnie Daigle and her husband, Charles, of Kountze; son, Jeff Chandler and his wife, Lisa of Nederland; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and the expectation of Maddox Chandler Bigelow, his namesake; sister, Nancy Stephens and her husband, Jim of Houston; very dear lifelong friends Joe considered as brothers, Richard Miller of Crowley, Louisiana and Gary Handle of Bronson. He will especially be missed by his faithful four-legged companion, Lucy.

 

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Virginia Chandler; and daughter, Felicia D. Ballard.

 

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.  A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Broussard’s.
