David A. Fontenot, 69, of Fannett, died September 1, 2011, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.  Born December 11, 1941, and a lifelong resident of Beaumont, David was the son of Mattie Darbonne Fontenot and Harry Fontenot.  He was a United States Army Veteran and was a retired fireman with the Beaumont Fire Department with over thirty years of service.

He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Barbara Fontenot of Fannett; daughters, Kim Robertson and her husband, Darren of LaPorte and Christy Beal and her husband, John of Baytown; six grandchildren, Bailey Cavness, Amanda LaValle, Adam LaValle, Canon Robertson, Breanne Beal and David Beal; brothers, Harry Fontenot, Jr. of Nederland and Ronnie Fontenot of Bryan; and sister, Sandra Bergeron of Beaumont.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ethel Trahan.

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  A gathering of his family and friends will be Monday evening, September 5, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
