Rebecca “Becky” Herron, 73, of Nederland, died Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at Christus Hospital St. Mary, Port Arthur.  Born July 21, 1938, in Morse, Louisiana to Cinderella Comeaux and Berchman Savoy, she was a resident of the Mid-County area since the age of five.  Becky was a local crosswalk attendant with Hillcrest Elementary School for twenty years.  Her nieces and nephews were very special to her heart. She was known as an avid animal lover, caring for all types and adopting any stray that she found.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Herron of Nederland; sisters, Jeannine Silkwood of Port Arthur, Texie Toombs of Grand Praire, Texas, and Deborah Romano and her husband, Pete of Beaumont; nieces and nephew, Carol Silkwood, Mary Kelley, Sandy Todd, Tony Silkwood, Cinda Arzola, Patrisha Morgan, Kim Bailey, Kaye Sanford, Brandy Toombs, Rhonda Gail, Heather Chapman, Andrea Chevalier; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Becky is preceded in death by her sister, Myrna Claire Savoy; and brother, Hershyll A. Savoy.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2011, at Broussard’s.
