Elvis Kirkland, 72, of Winnie, died August 26, 2011. Born January 11, 1939, in Silsbee, he was the son of Tharon LaVerne Hines and Frank Ben Kirkland. A lifelong resident of Southeast Texas, he had resided in the Winnie area. Elvis was a United States Army Veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Kirkland was retired from the Big Hill facility, as a mechanical supervisor and was very active as a member of Masonic Lodge #1366, Scottish Rite, and a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife Cleita Cormier Kirkland of Winnie; sons, Tod Kirkland of Vidor; and Kevin Cormier and his wife, Jamie of Winnie; daughter, Tracy Robinson and her husband, James of Mesa, Arizona; sister, Juanice Wilson and her husband, Ernest of Evadale; brother, Steve Kirkland and his wife, Lou of Vidor; and grandchildren, Kristi Cormier, Mandy Cormier, Megan Trimble and Britni Trimble and great grandchildren, Aiden and Mia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Ben Kirkland and Tharon LaVerne Hines Kirkland; and grandson, Kasey Charles Cormier.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August, 31, 2011, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie followed by Masonic graveside service in Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at Broussard’s.
