Mary A. Clark, 90, of Kountze and formerly of Mary made her home in Mary was a homemaker all of her life, kept the books for the family plumbing business and at times, went into the field with her husband, as a plumber’s helper. Mary was an accomplished hand knitter, quilter, crotchetier and was well known for hand tatted notes that were sold at the Methodist Church Winterberry Fair. Her quilts adorn the beds of her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Mary completed over one hundred quilts during her lifetime. Mary’s help and leadership will be sadly missed at the many, many public suppers she helped with over the years. She is survived by her son, Stanley and his wife Diana of Kountze; sisters, Ruth Wooster of Thomaston, Maine and Laverne Dickson of Camden, Maine; brother, Elden Young and wife Phyllis of Modesto, California; grandson, Michael Clark and wife Tracy; step-grandchildren, Dr. Peter Esponette and wife Sally, Melanie Davila and husband Jason, Amanda Schilling and husband Jeff, James Hardy III; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman Clark and two brothers, Keith Graham and Stanley Young. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, before the memorial service.
