J. H. Bailey, 88, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Mr. Bailey was born October 1, 1922, to Uda and Ernest Bailey in Duke, Oklahoma. He lived in Duke until he joined the United States Army in 1943, and later married Doris LaVerne Parchman that same year. After his military service, he worked at Phillips Chemical in Dumas, Texas. He moved to Beaumont in 1966 and worked at Mobil Chemical until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Bailey was the oldest member of the Northwest Church of Christ and will be missed by many friends and associates. Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Doris Bailey; son, Ronald Max Bailey; grandson, John C. Bailey; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Jacob; sister, Jeanna; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Durwood; and sisters, Ernestine and Mildred. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 12 Noon Saturday until time of service at Broussard’s. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northwest Church of Christ Library Fund, 7750 Highway 105, Beaumont, Texas 77713.
