Carolyn Jean Reeves, 63, of Clear Lake City, died Saturday August 20, 2011, in Houston, Texas. Carolyn was born in Beaumont on November 10, 1947, to Naldia and Eugene Reeves.
Carolyn graduated from Beaumont High School in 1965 and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from Lamar University in 1969. She also earned her Master of Science Degree from the University of Houston at Clear Lake in 1985. She taught high school math in the Spring Branch Independent School District and the Clear Creek Independent School District, most recently at Clear Lake High School. After retiring as a teacher, Carolyn was a Math tutor for several years in the Clear Lake area, and she also worked for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.
Carolyn loved her family, playing blackjack, eating Mexican food, steamed crabs and traveling on cruises.
She is survived by her mother, Naldia Peteete Reeves, of Beaumont; son, Landon Trent Phillips of Clear Lake; step-children, Sonja and Clay Phillips; brother, David Reeves and his wife, Ebby; nephews, Travis Reeves and Cameron Reeves, all of Houston.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Reeves.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2011, at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, with entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Broussard's.
