Jackie Hubbard, 95, of Lumberton died Friday, July 29, 2011, at her residence. Jackie was born April 3, 1916, in Voth, to Bertie Walton Townsend and Jack Townsend. A lifelong area resident, she was a homemaker. She played the piano for Voth Baptist Church for eighty-five years. Survivors include her daughters, Jean Holley and her husband, Donald of Plano, Pat Elder and her husband, Chick of Tampa, Florida, Barbara Cummings and her husband, Butch of Lumberton, Marialice Ping and her husband, Don of Columbus, Indiana, and Gail Vance and her husband, Roger of Huntington, West Virginia; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and sister, Lola Turner of Woodville. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dwight Edward Hubbard; brothers, J.L., Ben, and Austin Townsend; sister, Jo Berkman; and grandson, Roger Vance, Jr. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Guedry Cemetery in Batson. A gathering of her family and friends will be Monday, August 1, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
