Jack M. Hooper 
August 20, 1928 - July 27, 2011

Jack M. Hooper, 82, of Nederland, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Born August 20, 1928, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Byrdy Bell and J.H. Hooper, he was a resident of the Mid-County area for fifty-eight years.  Jack was employed as a boilermaker with Gulf Oil Refinery, retiring after thirty-three years of employment.  He was also a veteran, having served in the United States Army.

 

Jack is survived by his daughters, Debbie Black and her husband, Charles of Nederland and Donna Summers and her husband, David of Iowa, Louisiana; son, Doug Hooper of Nederland; four grandchildren, Nathan and Tiffani McNeil and Angie and Ashley Black; five great grandchildren, McKenzie and Morgan McNeil and Colin, Cali and Kami Babineaux; and one older brother.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Elwanda Hooper.

 

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at Broussard’s.
