Howard "Cowboy" Edward Holder 
February 23, 1930 - July 25, 2011

Howard E. “Cowboy” Holder, 81, of Winnie passed from this life into life everlasting with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 25, 2011. He was born February 23, 1930, in Choctaw, Oklahoma.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, of twenty-six years, Vivian Wells Holder; daughters, Tricia Holder of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Melody Bryer and her husband, Richard of Buffalo, Oklahoma; step-daughters, Rae Lynn Lansing and her husband, Michael of Fort Worth and Ann Marie Rhynes of Nederland; step-son, John Johnson and his wife, Lena of Winnie; brothers, Harold Northen of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Leon Sparks of Warwick, Oklahoma, Sam Sparks of Sparks, Oklahoma and Donald Gene Sparks of Harrah, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents, George Holder and Ruby McIntyre Holder Sparks; daughter, Cheryl Overhuser and sister, Georgia Harding.

 

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie with burial in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Broussard’s.

 

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family request with gratitude that memorial contributions in Mr. Holder’s name be directed to: The Arboretum of Winnie, % Activities Fund, 1215 Highway 124, Winnie, Texas 77665.
