Karen Marie Poindexter 
April 28, 1954 - July 10, 2011

Karen Marie Poindexter, 57, of Nederland, died Sunday, July 10, 2011.  Born April 28, 1954 in Hopewell, Virginia to Evelyn Marie Johnson and William Lorraine Aldridge, she was a resident of the Mid-County area for over fifty-five years.  Karen was employed as a cosmetologist and was a member of Isaiah 61st Street Outreach Ministry.  She was an excellent cook, enjoyed camping, and will always be remembered for her incredible sense of humor. 

 

Karen is survived by her husband of twenty-six years, Douglas Blake Poindexter; sons, Chris Angelle of Nederland, Jason Angelle and his wife, Naomi of Fort Polk; daughter, Jennifer Hill and her husband, Gaines of Nederland; grandchildren, Austin Taisey and Addie Hill; brothers, Leon Aldridge of Nederland and David Aldridge of Winnie; sisters, Betty Parish and her husband, John of Many, Louisiana and Brenda Scates and her husband, Winston of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; mother-in-law, Loretta Poindexter of Beaumont; and she will be especially missed by her four legged companion, Sweetie.

 

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Evelyn Aldridge.

 

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Cathedral in the Pines Christian Center, 2350 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland.  A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Cathedral in the Pines, until the time of service.

 

A private family committal will be held at a later date.
