Delbert Dean Smith, Sr., 57, of Winnie, died Friday, July 8, 2011, at Christus Hospital St Elizabeth in Beaumont.

Delbert was born to John Lee Smith and Ruby Ruth (Manuel) Smith, on October 30, 1953, in Anahuac, Texas.  He lived all his life in the Winnie area and was a surveyor with ExxonMobil.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and especially his granddaughter, affectionately called “Toodles”.

Delbert is survived by his wife, Deborah Smith of Winnie; sons, Delbert “Dale” Smith, Jr. and his girlfriend, Ashley Choate of Winnie, and Derck Dewayne Smith and his girlfriend, Angela Brumley of Village Mills; granddaughter, Savannah Kiara Smith; mother, Ruby Smith of Winnie; brothers, Mike Smith, Larry Smith, and Butch Smith all of Winnie, and John Lee Smith, Jr. of Pineland; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer, Winnie with burial to will follow at Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011, at Broussard’s.
