Officer Bryan Mitchell Hebert of Lumberton, Texas passed from this life Friday, July 8, 2011, while in the line of duty for the Beaumont Police Department. He was 36 years old.

Bryan was born January 15, 1975, in Port Arthur, Texas to Glenn M. and Cynthia (Cyndi) Evans Hebert. He was raised in Groves, Texas and graduated from Port Neches – Groves High School in 1993. He attended the 93rd Police Academy at Lamar Institute of Technology.

Bryan is preceded in death by his grandfather, Otis Hebert. He is survived by his parents, Glenn M. and Cynthia (Cyndi) Evans Hebert of Groves; sister, Holly Hebert of Groves; grandparents, Bob and Mary Lou Evans of Nogalus Prairie, Texas; grandmother, Audrey Hebert of Groves; godson, Roman Smith of Cypress, Texas; his beloved German Shepherd, Apollo; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and fellow police officers.

Bryan was an amazing son, brother, friend, and mentor to so many people. He never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, watching football, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan. He also enjoyed hunting, relaxing in the country, and spending time with family and friends. Bryan was a member of Silsbee Masonic Lodge #927.

Bryan was passionate about his career and was a ten year veteran of the Beaumont Police Department. He served in the patrol division, was a member of the hostage negotiation team, peer support team, and was a certified instructor on crisis intervention training for all cadets of the L.I.T. Academy.  There was no doubt that he was a policeman, but what defined Bryan was his family.

His funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center, 701 Main Street, with a burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 100 Club of Southeast Texas P.O. Box 3405, Beaumont, Texas 77704 or Police Memorial Fund, Attn: Lt. Mark Pierce, 255 College Street, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

While Bryan will be terribly missed by his family, friends, and fellow officers, he will forever live in our hearts. “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13.
