Joey Fontenot, 48, of Beaumont, died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Born February 16, 1963, in Wharton to Ruby Sonnier Fontenot and Gene Fontenot, Joey had been a resident of the Beaumont area most of his life. A 1981 graduate from Forest Park High School, Joey was a paint and body technician.

Survivors include his father, Gene Fontenot of Beaumont; Children: sons, Dustin Fontenot of Beaumont and Brandon of Nome; stepson, Jeremy of Nome; stepdaughter, Lindsey of Nome; brothers, Danny Fontenot and Deano Fontenot both of Beaumont, and David Fontenot of Orange; sister, Mary Fontenot of Beaumont; nephews, Kyle and Kevin Fontenot; niece, Courtney Meeks; and one great niece, Kennedy Meeks.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia; and his mother, Ruby Fontenot.

A gathering of his family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s.
