Rickey Joe Jones, 61, of Winnie died July 5, 2011, at the Winnie Community Hospital.

A native of El Dorado, Arkansas, he was born to Ben Jones and Rena Cogburn Jones on October 21, 1949, and had lived in the Winnie area for fifty-six years. Rick was a Vietnam War veteran and a retired operator with Chevron after twenty-five years, who loved to hunt, fish, play golf and will be remembered as a witty individual with a creative spirit that loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all.

Rick is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Sandra Jones; daughter, Shannon Bennett and her husband, Greg; sons, Cory Jones and his wife, Michelle, and Shane Jones and Shandra White all of Winnie; grandchildren, Lauren, Karrie, Dillon, Kaitlyn, and Caydence; sister, Shirley Alred and her husband, Billy of Canton; brother, Gary “Gabby” Jones and his wife, Regina of Winnie; he will be especially missed by all of his four legged companions; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Rena Jones and granddaughter, Devon “Sissy” Sanford.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie with burial at Fairview Cemetery. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Broussard’s.
