Steven Duane McShan, 24, of Lumberton, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011, in Galveston. A native of Lufkin, he was born January 17, 1987, to Darci Rogers McShan and David Duane McShan. A longtime resident of Lumberton, he was a firefighter with the City of Port Arthur. Steven was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed off-roading on ATVs, Jeeps, and other four-wheel drive vehicles. He did volunteer work for Buckner International, and he especially loved being a firefighter. Survivors include his fiancé, Kalyn Layton of Lumberton; parents, Darci and David McShan of Lumberton; brother, Weston McShan of Lumberton; sister, Amber McShan of Lumberton; great-grandmother, Maxine Beard of Lumberton; grandparents, Ruth and R.L. Rogers of Montana, and Donna and Kenneth McShan of Huntington; niece, McKenzie McShan; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Broussard’s.
