Fred A. Merriman, 77, of Honey Island went to be with Jesus Christ, his higher power, Saturday, July 2, 2011. Fred was born October 13, 1933, in Beaumont to Aubrey Lee and Edna Laura (Corser) Merriman.  Having spent most of his life in Honey Island, he was a retired machinist with Bethlehem Steel.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a friend of Bill W. for twenty-seven years.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Merriman of Honey Island; and numerous children, step-children, grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze with burial to follow at Jordan Cemetery in Honey Island.  A gathering of his family and friends will be Monday, July 4, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
