Prentice “Dick” Odom, 85, of Winnie, died June 27, 2011, at the Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, in Beaumont.

Dick was born July 14, 1925, in Fred, Texas and has lived in the Winnie area since he was eighteen. He was an engineer technician with Sun Oil before retiring.

Dick is survived by his sons, Ron Odom and his wife, Linda of Lancaster, Ohio and Jack Odom of Winnie; daughters, Marsha Martin and her husband, Thomas of Houston and Aleta Schuster and her husband, Hogie of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, Stephanie Cox, Matt Odom, Greg Odom, Rusty Dubose, Tyler Martin and Tracee Martin; great-grandchildren, Bailey Cox and Carson Cox; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Turner Odom; son, Kenneth Odom; and grandson, Jason Odom.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Broussard’s.
