Linda Fay Croom Gilbert, 65, of Beaumont, returned home to her Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Born on July 30, 1945, in Batson, she was the daughter of Bernice and M.C. Croom. She lived much of her life in Vidor, but resided in Beaumont for the last fifteen years. A consummate homemaker, Linda brought joy to her entire family with her passions of knitting, sewing, quilting, and cooking. A servant of God, she was an active member of Hamaco Sunday School Class at Trinity United Methodist Church of Beaumont.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of sixteen years, Felix Michael Gilbert of Beaumont; daughter, Susan Lavergne and her husband, Donald of Vidor; sons, Andy Marshall and his wife, Tina of Vidor and Mark Marshall of Orangefield. Linda was also a beloved step-mother to Kathleen Gilbert of North Richland Hills, Michael S. Gilbert and his wife, Michelle and Kelly Henry and her husband, Gaile M. Henry III, all of Beaumont; “Nana” to thirteen grandchildren, Ryan, Alexis, Nicole, Noah, J.C., Matthew, Stephen, Hannah, Hayden, Julia, Hayleigh, Mark Jr. and Montana; and brother, Jack Croom of Vidor.
Her funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, 2725 North Main Street, Vidor. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Broussard’s.
