Jimmie Faye Austin, 81, of Beaumont, died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, she was born July 2, 1929, to Beatrice Margarite Davis West and Elmo Ashley West.  Jimmie Faye worked at Evans Grocery Store in her teenage years.  She enjoyed volunteering and helping others throughout her life. Jimmie Faye volunteered in Calvary Baptist Church where she was a lifelong member since cradle roll.  She taught 9-12 year olds in Sunday school, Training Union, Vacation Bible School, and Girls Auxiliary.  In the community, Jimmie Faye was active in P.T.A. holding office and volunteered at Medical and Surgical Hospital for many years.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Holton and her husband, Todd of Alvin and Sandra Blanton and her husband, Terry of Pasadena; grandchildren, Kevin Holton and his wife, Carrie of Mission, Kristin Austin and her husband, Kyle of Coppell, Christopher Blanton and his wife, Danielle of Gladewater, Courtney Blanton of Lufkin and Corey Blanton of Pasadena; great-grandson, Daniel Blanton of Gladewater; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jarrell Owen Austin; one brother, six sisters, and her parents.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  A gathering of her family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Broussard’s.
