Marjorie "Margie" Mary Rowland 
July 13, 1922 - June 21, 2011

Marjorie “Margie” Mary Rowland, 88, of Round Rock formerly of Stowell died peacefully at Park Valley Nursing Home after a brief illness on June 21, 2011.

 

Margie was born July 13, 1922, in Sarasota to Norbert E. Mestayer, Sr.and Florence Mestayer. She graduated from Beaumont High School in Beaumont in 1939, and then completed her nurses training at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Beaumont. Margie was the school nurse for East Chambers Independent School District for over twenty years.

 

After living in Stowell for most of her adult life, she resided in Round Rock to be near her son for the past fifteen years. Margie was an active participant at the Alan Baca Senior Center, enjoying exercise classes, garden club meetings, and luncheons. She also took pleasure in traveling, gardening and cooking for her grandchildren.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 W. Buccaneer Drive with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard's, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. until Noon Friday at Broussard’s.

 

Margie is survived by her son, Guy K. Rowland, DVM and his wife Marilyn “Mickey” and her four grandchildren, Clint, Katie, Kyle and Clare; and numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Mabel Rowland, brother, Norbert E. Mestayer, Jr.; and her husband, Asa Guy “Rabbit” Rowland.

 

Her family wishes to express deep gratitude to Dr. Paul Venegoni and his staff at Park Valley Inn Nursing Home and especially to Breanne Saldiver, for their compassion and care.
