Edward Frank Rod, Sr. 
November 1, 1919 - June 17, 2011

Edward F. Rod, Sr., 91, of Beaumont died Friday, June 17, 2011.

 

He was born November 1, 1919, in El Campo to Albina Hubinak Rod and Frank J. Rod.  Ed retired in 1981 from Olin Chemical after thirty-four years. Ed’s special interests included hunting, fishing, tennis and square dancing and he was a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church where he was involved in Adoration and the 49’ers.

 

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Rod of Beaumont; sons, Gerald Rod and his wife, Beverly of Canyon Country, California and Dr. Edward F. Rod, Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Beaumont; brother, Alvin Rod of Houston; sister, Margie Mills of El Campo; grandchildren, Jason Rod, Jennifer Rod LaBorde, Keli Rod, Heather Rod, and Sara Rod; and great-grandchildren, Laurel and Carson LaBorde.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norman Rod; sister, Hattie Donovan; and grandchildren, Cory Rod and Tim Rod.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A Christian Vigil will be 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2011, with a gathering of his family and friends to follow, at Broussard’s.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Clara (Sunshine) Sells for all the love and care she showed “Pa” during his last year.
