Steve Shoemaker, 56, of Port Arthur, died June 13, 2011. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School Steve served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He began his career in the petrochemical industry with Sabine Towing and Transportation, and later with Hvide Marine. In 2001 Steve became manager of the Trans Global Solutions Coke Facility at ExxonMobil, Beaumont. This position continued under Kinder Morgan. Steve had been associated with the Boy Scouts of America, the United Methodist Temple, and the Mid County Modelers Radio Control Club. He was currently serving as secretary, volunteer firefighter and E.M.T. with the LaBelle-Fannett Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, B.J. Shoemaker of Port Arthur; daughter, Rose Shoemaker of Port Arthur; son, Will Shoemaker of Lubbock; mother, Mary Shoemaker of Port Arthur; brothers, David Shoemaker of Houston and Jon Shoemaker and his wife, Vicky of Winnie; sister, Sally; eleven nieces and nephews; and three great nieces and nephews.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, Eddie Shoemaker; grandparents, Emery and Annie Baker; and his brother, Emery Shoemaker.
His funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland, with burial to follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston. A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2011, at Broussard’s. His family will be serving as pallbearers.
