Lillian C. “Nuna” “Nanny” Dugue Copeland, 91, of Sour Lake, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

Born April 28, 1920, in Beaumont to Victoria Cecilia Dugue and Walter Joseph Dugue, Lillian had been a resident of Sour Lake since 1949 and was a retired sales clerk. She enjoyed volunteering and had volunteered many years for the Senior Citizens Center in Sour Lake.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara A. Allen and her husband, J.W. of Sour Lake, and Madelyn F. Howard of Austin; sisters, Adele “Dee Dee” LeBlanc of Metairie, Louisiana and Rose Marie Clapp of Vidor; seven grandchildren, Janet Allen Swearingen, James Curtis Allen, Christopher A. Allen, Bruce Ainsworth, Stacey Ainsworth, Rhonda Berry and Melissa Myers; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; step-children, Kit Copeland, Sue Wets, Billie Jean Stephens and Ercel King; numerous nieces and nephews; and special companion, Lucky.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Copeland; parents; daughter, Regina Ainsworth; brothers, Oswald A. Dugue and Lee J. Dugue; and sister, Sarah Rita Hale.

Lillian never met a stranger and was extremely generous to all that touched her life.  She will be remembered by her beloved daughters, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren for eternity. Lillian will be missed dearly by all of those who loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 225 W. Barkley, Sour Lake with burial to follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at Broussard’s.
