Crockett Wayne Whitmire 
October 4, 1962 - May 30, 2011

Crockett Wayne Whitmire, 48, of Lumberton died Monday, May 30, 2011, at his residence in Lumberton.

 

Crockett was a life long resident of the area and was a wood yard supervisor at Mead Westvaco in Evadale.  Crockett liked hunting and fishing with his family and he enjoyed singing, especially with his daughters.  He was also a coach for Lumberton Little Dribblers Basketball.

 

He is survived by his wife, Shari Kai Whitmire; daughters, Kristen Whitmire and her fiancé, Josh Burns of San Antonio, Kaitlin Whitmire and Kari Whitmire both of Lumberton; brother, Russell Walters and his wife, Mary of Spurger; sister, Odell Worsham of Buna; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Carolyn Gunter; his friends, (brothers in his heart), Bruce Whitehead, Albert Talley, Dennis Marks, and Randy Gore; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Crockett is preceded in death by his parents, Crockett W. and Lanie Whitmire; niece, Jennifer Walters; and brother-in-law, Roy Worsham.

 

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee, with burial to follow at Morse Cemetery in Buna.  A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, June 1, 2011, 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
