Irma Mae Crisman Farris 
August 23, 1921 - May 29, 2011

Irma Mae Crisman Farris, 89, of Colmesneil, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.  Born August 23, 1921 in San Antonio, to Beulah May and John Harlin Crisman, she was a resident of the Mid County area since 1935.  Irma was a 1939 graduate of Nederland High School, and attended Port Arthur Business College.  She was a member of the League of Women Voters and the Nederland High School class reunion planning committee. Irma was the secretary to the regional Director of Human Services, State of Texas, having retired after twenty years of service. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, gardening, playing cards with her family and friends, traveling with her Sun Travel friends, and sending notes and cards to her loved ones.  Irma loved her family, friends, and co-workers. Family traditions and holidays were something that was very important to her.

 

She is survived by her husband, Devon Farris of  Colmesneil; children, Dianne Farris Popken and her husband, Gary Don of Dallas, John C. Farris and his wife, Kathy of Colmesneil and daughter in law, Sharon Farris of Tyler; grandchildren, Jimmy Farris, Tom Farris, Sandy Farris, Tim Farris, Lori Farris Johnson, Kristy Popken Peek, Amanda Popken, and Tracy Popken; great grandchildren, Kelsey Sandy, Leslie Reynolds, Kailyn Reynolds, Jaren Lee Farris, Allie Farris, Lexi Farris, Madeleine Johnson, Bayla Johnson, Trace Peek; and sisters, Dorris Crisman Luther and her husband, Tommy of Many, LA, and Florence (Nina) Crisman Cooley of Santa Barbara, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Irma is preceded in death by her parents, John Harlin and Beulah (Tootsie) Crisman; son, Jimmie Devon Farris; and sister, JoAnn Crisman Young.

 

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland, with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, in Port Neches.  A gathering of her family and friends will be Wednesday evening, June 1, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
