Doris Storey, 79, of Pinewood, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

A native of Grady County, Georgia, she was born July 8, 1931 to Charles Marvin Shores and Lotchie Dixon-Shores.  An Army wife she lived the military life following her husband Billie to stations that included posts in Fort Benning, Georgia; United States Forces, Austria; Colorado; United States Forces, Germany; Fort Riley, Kansas; and military retirement at Fort Hood, Texas.

Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Billie Storey of Pinewood; sons, Doug Storey and his wife, Karen of Houston, and Greg Storey of Lufkin; grandchildren, Jacob Storey, Connor Storey, Dustin Storey, Carly Winegeart, Lacy Storey, and Joshua Storey. In addition, she is survived by three great-grandchildren; her brothers, Clyde Shores of Havana, Florida, Anderson Shores of Thomasville, Georgia; and her sisters, Francis Shores-Fulgham of Thomasville, Georgia, Geraldine Shores-Rowe of Port Royal, South Carolina, and Bobbie Shores-Zaleski of Erie, Pennsylvania.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Shores of Brevard, North Carolina.

Her memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium.
