Maxine Marie Conway, 87, of Crystal Beach, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 16, 2011. She was born September 7, 1923, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Sylvester and Grace Lewis. She made her home in Galveston and Crystal Beach, Texas with her husband, John E. Conway and spent this last year at the Arboretum of Winnie.

Maxine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a devoted wife, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be remembered for her smile and love of books.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Rodriguez and husband Richie; Grandchildren, Jeffery Conway, Kacey Vratis and husband Brad, Kyle Rodriguez and wife Emily; Great grandchildren, Carlei, Emily, Alex, Antonio, and Sophie. She is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Conway; and son, John F. Conway.

A Christian Memorial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Bay Vue United Methodist Church, 1411 Highway 87, Crystal Beach, Texas 77650. Cremation was under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive in Winnie.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family request with gratitude a book donation be made in Mrs. Conway’s name and directed to the Rosenburg Library, 2310 Sealy Street, Galveston, Texas 77550.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff of the Arboretum of Winnie for the loving care they gave Maxine during her stay there.
